Appeal For The Catholic Church’s Persecution In Italy

On  Monday  Pope Francis  asked  for  forgiveness  for  the Catholic  church’s  persecution of  the  members  of  the  small  evangelical  church  that  is  located  in Italy, whose  leaders  was excommunicated  and  the  followers  in the group were  branded  as  heretics  during  the  middle  ages.

This  happened  during the  first  ever  papal  visit  Monday  to the Waldensian  house  of  worship  in  Turin  where  Pope  pleaded  for  the “un- Christian and  the inhuman  attitude  and  the behavior”  of  the catholic  church  at  large  towards  the Waldensian  church,  starting  the  second  day  of  his two-day  visit  to  Turin with  a  strong  ecumenical  message  to  the  all  the  Christians  inclusive  and  fraternity.

In 12th century  was  when  the Waldensian church  was  officially  founded  by  Peter  Waldo, who  was  a  wealthy  merchant from  Lyon which  is  located  in France.
Peter  gave  all  his  belonging  in  order  to  preach  the  Gospel  of  simplicity and  poverty  which  in  its  message  condemned   papal  excesses,  this  followed  their  persecution by  Rome.

Pope  Francis  arrived  in  the  meeting  together  with  the  youths, in  Turin,  Italy  on  Sunday 21st , 2015.  Before  his  arrival  at  the  place, pope  had  earlier  made  a prayer  in front  of  the Holy  Shroud  which  is the  14  foot- long linen revered by  the  burial  cloths  of  Jesus  to  the  display  of  the Cathedral  of  Turin.
Later  on Monday  pope  had  launched and  celebrated  Mass  for  around  30  members who  belonged  to  his  family, who  summon from Italy’s Piedmont  region. “The reunion involved six cousins  and  their  relatives”, said  Vatican.
